Joyce and Her Allies Are Building Bridges to Support Women’s Career Journeys

In Foster City, California, Joyce Cheng, an Associate Director at IEQ Capital, has made a significant impact in Financial Advisory and Wealth Management. Her career, built on expertise and mentorship, fuels her passion for giving back, demonstrated through her volunteer work with Her Allies, an organization dedicated to helping women reboot their careers.

Grateful for the mentorship she received, Joyce was inspired to pay it forward through Her Allies, which supports women in navigating career disruptions.

“Her Allies is a team that truly orients all of its resources around helping women. To me, its mission emphasizes companionship. We can’t do all things alone. Whether you are going through our community workshops or joining us as a Her Relaunch program member, whether you are looking for a second opinion for your resume or pivoting your entire career after a break, you will always find support here.”

As a key member of the Her Allies Program Committee, Joyce works closely with Vice Chair Vicki Yang to organize impactful workshops. Joyce’s behind-the-scenes efforts, such as creating LinkedIn and resume tip sheets, have significantly boosted many women’s chances of securing interviews.

Volunteering with Her Allies has deepened Joyce’s understanding of the challenges women face when re-entering the job market. The organization helps women learn how to interview, highlight their skills, and navigate the job market’s nuances. Personalized mentorship pairs each mentee with mentors experienced in their field, ensuring effective guidance.

Her Allies offers a unique virtual volunteer opportunity, allowing volunteers to form special bonds with mentees and support them through career disruptions.

“This is a life-changing volunteer opportunity because you get to share a special bond with someone to change their career trajectory by opening new doors for them. Career disruption could come from all sorts of angles, sometimes beyond our control - having a kid, taking care of a family member, pursuing continuing education, lay-offs, etc. Supporting another woman through these situations to ultimately land a position in power is a big step forward in achieving workplace gender equality.”

Join Joyce and Her Allies in empowering women to reach their career goals and foster a more equitable professional landscape. Participate by volunteering or supporting their mission to make a lasting difference.
